Most Wanted Pawn sets up shop in New Glasgow
Most Wanted Pawn has opened its doors in New Glasgow, a town, says Ray Harris, that the business owners thought could use something new.
“It is a beautiful town with tons of history,” says the store supervisor, “and while there are a few other spots that sell new and used goods, we find that we kind of have an allaround variety.”
The store, located on MacDonald Street, had its soft opening on Nov. 3, and hopes to hold an official grand opening in the next few weeks.
While new to New Glasgow, Most Wanted Pawn is well known in the Atlantic region. Its first location opened in Charlottetown, P.E.I. just over a decade ago. Now, the store has six locations, including Dartmouth and Truro.
Having that Colchester County location, which
opened last year, actually inspired Most Wanted Pawn to explore the idea of a New Glasgow location.
“There were so many people actually coming into our Truro location that are from here in New Glasgow that were just like ‘man I so wish you were over here,” says Harris. “Then the next thing you know New Glasgow is where we are at.”
For those unfamiliar with how a pawn shop works, Harris describes Most Wanted Pawn as any other retail store. People can come in, take a look around, and buy anything that catches their eye. The bonus - you can sell what you have or even trade it towards something.
The shop's main “eye poppers” are the music and video game sections. Music lovers can find a variety of music gear and guitars, while video game enthusiasts can find systems and games new and old.
Most Wanted Pawn also has jewelry, tools, home appliances and much more. As Harris says, there is “literally something for everyone.”
