Music series to bring together healthcare providers, new-comers
NEW GLASGOW—Newcomers and healthcare providers can soon enjoy free performances at the Glasgow Square Theatre, thanks to a new partnership between Healthy Pictou County and the Office of Healthcare Professionals Recruitment Community Fund.
Free tickets for various cultural performances in 2024 will be offered to healthcare providers and newcomers to the area to thank the healthcare community for their hard work. The event will also introduce new community members to the area's spirited culture.
“We are really excited about this opportunity to offer accessible performances to highlight local culture and culturally diverse performances to our local healthcare workers and those new to the community,” said Nicole LeBlanc, project navigator for Healthy
Pictou County. “It's an exciting way to say thank you and welcome while showcasing the incredible offerings we have right here in our backyard and provide attendees with a space to socialize and meet people in the community.”
Morgan Simms, the program, culture and events manager for New Glasgow, echoed LeBlanc's enthusiasm.
“Live music has a profound impact on people's lives, bringing joy, inspiration, and a sense of connection. By making it more accessible and equitable, you are ensuring that all residents have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of the arts. This investment will undoubtedly contribute to the overall vibrancy and cohesion of the community,” Simms said.
Joe H Henry Trio will kick off the shows on April 13 at 7:30 p.m. The son of awardwinning Canadian country musician Harvey Henry, Joe H's one-of-a-kind voice and love for story-telling draws from his musical roots and Metis heritage of the Red
River Valley.
“Cultural gathering places like the Glasgow Square Theatre are vital to building vibrant communities,” Henry explained. “I'm honoured to be a part of this amazing initiative to welcome and bring people together through music.”
Tickets are free to healthcare workers and newcomers to Pictou County. They can be obtained by contacting or visiting the Glasgow Square Box Office or emailing inquiries@glasgowsquare.com.
