March Break is coming up fast and there is so much to do at Niagara Falls Public Library. Here are some of the programs we’ll be doing during Make! March Break.

Join us for Robot Lab and get hands-on with new technology. Meet our new robots Dash and Dot, and learn how you can command them to move through a maze. Tell Ozobots where to move, play and dance using lines and colours drawn on a page. Use play dough to make electronic circuits and light up your creations using Squishy Circuits. Discover how Makey Makey turns bananas into a piano, or makes a joystick to play video games on your computer. Little Bits colour-coded, magnetic electronic building blocks can be used to explore circuit building and coding while making fun things in the process. Free. Registrati­on is required. Ages 8+. Monday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Chippawa Library, Tuesday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Stamford Centre Library, Wednesday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. and Friday, March 17 at 10:30 a.m at Victoria Avenue Library, and Thursday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. at Community Centre Library.

Check out Kaleidosco­pe Science — explore the science of light and reflection and learn how to make your own kaleidosco­pe. Experiment with your own designs to see how different results are created.Cost: $2. Registrati­on is required. Ages 6+. Monday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Community Centre Library, and Wednesday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Stamford Centre Library.

Paint Nite at the Library (during the day)! Do you love to paint? Do you think that you can’t paint anything? Artists of any skill level can create a beautiful sunset painting by following along with step-by-step instructio­ns.Cost: $2. Registrati­on is required. Ages 8+. Monday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Stamford Centre Library, Monday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Victoria Avenue Library and Tuesday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Community Centre Library.

Want to Make Music? Create your own band of instrument­s using different materials to produce a variety of instrument­s. Discover the types of sounds that can be made, and how they can all work together to make music. Cost: $2. Registrati­on is required. Ages 6+. Monday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Community Centre Library, Tuesday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Stamford Centre Library and Tuesday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Victoria Avenue Library.

Looking for something different? Join Project: Puppet. Use your imaginatio­n to make puppets using a wide range of supplies. Create a complete cast of characters using a variety of techniques and materials. You will leave with everything needed to put on your own puppet show based on a children’s book. This program is in two parts over two days — attendees must be able to attend both sessions. Cost: $2. Registrati­on is required. Ages 6+. Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Victoria Avenue Library or Wednesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. at Stamford Centre Library.

You can use computer programs — now want to learn how to make computer programs? Learn the basics in Hour of Code. Coding is the process of creating a set of instructio­ns that a computer can understand to make something happen or react. People write code, code powers computers, and computers power most everyday objects like phones, watches and cars. Learn to code in this fun and easy introducto­ry class. Free. Registrati­on is required. Ages 8+. Monday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Victoria Avenue Library, Monday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Stamford Centre Library and Wednesday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Community Centre Library.

Help us build an awesome cardboard playhouse for the Library at Cardboard Creations with MakeDo. All it takes is plastic tools and screws, cardboard, imaginatio­n, and you! Free. No registrati­on required. Ages 6+. Tuesday, March 14th at 10:30 a.m. at Community Centre Library and Thursday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. at Victoria Avenue Library.

If you’re exhausted from all that making, relax with a movie at the Chippawa Library. Trolls (Rated G, 92 minutes) is a comedy extravagan­za with incredible music. From the genius creators of Shrek, Trolls stars Anna Kendrick as Poppy, the optimistic leader of the Trolls, and her polar opposite, Branch, played by Justin Timberlake. Together, this unlikely pair of Trolls must embark on an adventure that takes them far beyond the only world they’ve ever known. Free. No registrati­on required. Friday, March 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Chippawa Library. Bring your own snacks.

Read to a dog, hang out with a dog or hug a dog — the Therapy Tails dogs are ready for everything. Perfect for children who are nervous around dogs, looking for some sensory input, need practice reading out loud or just want to hang out and relax with these furry friends. Free. No registrati­on required. Wednesday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Chippawa Library.
