The gala exposes visitors to top Ontario wines while raising money to fund academic scholarships and grape and wine research through the Cuvee Legacy Fund.

“Not only does Cuvee showcase VQA wines to consumers it also helps Ontario students and our grape and wine industry by supporting important research and scholarships,” said institute director Debbie Inglis.

To complement the wine, a dozen chefs from across Niagara will be offering gourmet dishes at live cooking stations.

“As much as the oenophiles enjoy the event, the foodies do, too,” said Cuvee manager Barb Tatarnic.

The festivities continue through the March 25-26 weekend with the Cuvee en Route program.

Tickets for both the Friday night Grand Tasting and the weekendlong en Route passport are available at cuvee.ca for $200 a person. Tickets for the passport only are $30.

Last year’s sold-out event raised more than $36,000.

According to the institute, the Ontario grape and wine industry employs more than 14,000 people an attracts 1.9 million visitors each year.
