Lexus GS sedan’s days could be numbered

Rumours say Lexus wants only one large sedan in its lineup

- NICK TRAGIANIS DRIVING.CA

Rumour has it the Lexus GS sedan won’t be around for much longer.

Citing a report from a Japanese magazine, Lexus Enthusiast says the GS is rumoured to be on the chopping block. It’s simply a rumour at this point, but the rumour is reportedly the result of Lexus’s concerns that the GS will step on the toes of the flagship LS sedan when equipped with its new V6.

Lexus Enthusiast is taking the news with a grain of salt — and you should, too — considering it’s an unsubstantiated rumour. On one hand, the Lexus GS and LS sedans occupy completely different segments of the market. On the other hand, we wouldn’t completely rule out this idea because it’s no secret that cars, especially sedans, are suffering as a result of booming SUV and crossover sales.

In any case, time will tell whether or not the Lexus GS will live on.
