Register now for spring programs at the library

Spring has sprung, and our new round of programs is starting up. Children’s Early Literacy programmin­g runs April 3 through May 26. Registrati­on is open for Bouncin’ Babytime, Just for Tots, Time for 2s and 3s, Family Storytime, Cocoa Club Jr., Cocoa Club, and there are still spots available. You can register online, in person or over the phone for any of these programs. There are also several drop-in programs which do not require registrati­on - Play & Explore, After School Club and Lego Club. Fun for all at these programs — just come over and join in. Crafternoo­ns start up again this week at the Chippawa Library on Mondays from 2:30 p.m. — 4:30 p.m. and at the Stamford Centre Library on Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. — 3:30 p.m. Working on a project and want a little company? Join other crafters, knitters, crocheters and more for an afternoon of sharing and learning. Bring your tools and supplies and spend the afternoon sharing patterns, ideas and more. Registrati­on is not required for Crafternoo­ns.

Homework Help continues at the Victoria Avenue Library. Our Teen Tutors are ready to help students in grades 1 through 8 with homework, projects, or to review work that might be giving a bit of trouble. Practice some math, or reading, or do some research on that project. Homework Help runs from 4-5 p.m. on Mondays, and registrati­on is not required.

Story of My Life — Memoir Writing Workshop will be on Tuesday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Victoria Avenue Library. Join writer Larry Weiss in this hands-on, full day workshop where you will begin to develop a sense of self, memory recall, research techniques, and structural framework for writing. Larry will provide support for the writing challenged and there will be time to write and share. There must be ten participan­ts for the workshop to run - please register by April 3. There is a $30 per person cost. Register in person at any Niagara Falls Public Library location.

Join us on Tuesday April 4 at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Avenue Library for Things to Know When Using a Lawyer or Representi­ng Yourself. Local area resident Larry Fisher will share his experience in navigating the complexiti­es of using legal representa­tion and how you can represent yourself in arbitratio­n, the executor role and the probate process. This program is free, registrati­on is required.

Looking for some lively discussion of current events in a fun and friendly manner? Headline Hunters is for you! On Wednesdays April 5 and May 3 at 2 p.m. at the Victoria Avenue Library we will be gathering in a fun and friendly manner to discuss hot topics out of the headlines. Refreshmen­ts will be served. This program is free, registrati­on is not required.

Collateral Beauty (Rated PG, 94 minutes, 2016) is on screen on Wednesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. at the Chippawa Library, starring Will Smith, Edward Norton, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet, and Helen Mirren. When a successful New York ad executive suffers a personal tragedy and retreats from life, his friends devise a drastic plan to reach him before he loses everything. Pushing him to the very edge, they force him to confront the truth in surprising and profoundly human ways. Movies are free and no registrati­on is required. Bring your own snacks.
