Vendors needed for parking lot sale

Do you have a garage or basement full of unwanted stuff? The city’s recreation committee is looking for vendors to participat­e in the second annual Garage Sale at the Gale in June. The day-long event, to be held June 24 in the parking lot of the Thorold Stone Road arena complex, will be a fundraiser for the city’s Activity Subsidy Fund. Vendors can book a parking spot for $20 for vehicles or $40 for cube vans. The deadline for vendor applicatio­ns is June 1. Applicatio­ns are available at www. niagarafal­ls.ca or at the MacBain Community Centre and the Gale Centre.

Travelling exhibit coming to Falls library

A travelling exhibit about the history of four Ontario families will visit the Niagara Falls Public Library this week. The Family Ties: Ontario Turns 150 exhibit features Dr. Jay Young, who will explore the history of four Confederat­ion era families and how their lives were woven into larger history. It will touch on early photograph­y, communicat­ion, social change and the value of genealogy in studying the past. The exhibit is free with registrati­on and starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the library’s Victoria Avenue branch.

Police arrested wanted man for impaired driving

Niagara Regional Police have arrested one of the people on the service’s “Niagara Wanted” list. Police say they responded to a call of an impaired driver on Niagara Boulevard near Phipps Street in Fort Erie at about 2:24 a.m. Sunday. Police arrested 38-year-old Bradley Swalm, who is charged with impaired driving, refusing to give a breath sample and driving while disqualifi­ed. Swalm was wanted by the NRP since February for allegedly taking a vehicle without consent, flight from police, driving while prohibited and obstructin­g a peace officer.
