“A United Kingdom” (Rated PG, 111 minutes, 2017) will be showing at the Chippawa library on Friday, May 12 at 2 p.m. Starring David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, Jack Davenport and Tom Felton, “A United Kingdom” tells the inspiring true story of Seretse Khama, the King of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana), and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1948 in the face of fierce opposition from their families and the British and South African governments. Seretse and Ruth defied family, Apartheid and empire — their love triumphed over every obstacle flung in their path and in so doing they transformed their nation and inspired the world. Movies are free and no registration is required. Bring your own snacks.

“Table 19” (Rated 14A, 2017, 87 minutes) will be showing on Wednesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at the Chippawa library. A dramatic comedy directed by Jeffrey Blitz, “Table 19” has the star-packed cast including Anna Kendrick, Amanda Crew, Wyatt Russell, Lisa Kudrow, Maria Thayer, Stephen Merchant, Craig Robinson, Elizabeth Ludlow, Thomas Cocquerel. Ex-maid of honor Eloise (Anna Kendrick) — having been relieved of her duties after being unceremoniously dumped by the best man via text — decides to hold her head up high and attend her oldest friend’s wedding anyway. She finds herself seated at the ‘random’ table in the back of the ballroom with a disparate group of strangers, most of whom should have known to just send regrets (but not before sending something nice off the registry). As everyone’s secrets are revealed, Eloise learns a thing or two from the denizens of Table 19. Friendships — and even a little romance — can happen under the most unlikely circumstances. Movies are free and no registration is required. Bring your own snacks.
