If you’ve got an afternoon off then you’ve got time to catch Ryan Gosling in the Golden Globe and Academy award winner La La Land. The Chippawa Library features this free matinee on Friday, May 26 at 2 p.m. Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) and Mia (Emma Stone) are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. But as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart. La La Land is 128 minutes long and is rated PG.

Mondays at Victoria Avenue Library are the place to be after school for Homework Help. This is a free program and no registrati­on is required. If you’re between grades 1 through 8 and need some help with your homework, a project or material review, then this is the time to head on down to the Library. Teen tutors are available to help you work through it. Homework Help runs from 4-5 p.m.

The legal experts from the Niagara North Community Legal Assistance are at your Library on Monday, June 5 for our once-amonth legal clinic from 1-4 p.m. Meet with the profession­al and get one-on-one advice on landlord and tenant issues as well as employment law concerns. Our legal expert is back on Monday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. for those who wish to learn more about landlord and tenant rights with a special focus on the eviction process. Both of these programs are free and no registrati­on is required.

Sports have been bringing Ontarians together for more than a century. Join the Archives of Ontario in rememberin­g our athletic heritage, from local sports teams and leisure games to internatio­nal competitio­ns and major league championsh­ips. This exhibit — Ontario’s Sporting Past will be showing at the Community Centre Library throughout the month of June for public viewing.

Teen writers sharpen your pencils! The Fresh Ink 2017 Creative Writing competitio­n for Teens is now open. Entries are for short story and poetry writers between 12 and 18 years of age, who live or study in St. Catharines or the Niagara Region. These entrants may submit their works for the annual Fresh Ink Writing Awards. Profession­al writers will judge the entries on the basis of originalit­y and style, general presentati­on, grammar and spelling. Cash prizes will be awarded.
