Headstones, Big Sugar part of Canal Days lineup

Summer in Port Colborne will be anything but boring.

Tuesday afternoon the city announced its long list of summer activities, including the lineup for Canal Days, during the Mayor’s Luncheon at the Roselawn Centre.

Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival will be held during the civic holiday weekend of Aug. 4 to 7. Mayor John Maloney said each year the event welcomes about 400,000 people from across the region and afar.

The Headstones will headline entertainm­ent Friday, Aug. 4. The concert will also will feature The Standstill­s, Say Yes and the winner of the 97.7 HTZ-FM Rock Search.

On the Saturday night, Big Sugar headlines with the Sadies and the Julian Taylor Band.

Prior to the fireworks show on Sunday, Aug. 5, people can enjoy performanc­es from The Beach Party Boys and Bob Marley cover band Lazlo.

Monday’s performanc­e will feature Beatles tribute band The Caverners and world champion Elvis tribute performer Tim E Hendry.

The community doesn’t have to wait until August to start enjoying summer activities though.
