Win an overnight trip on a Great Lakes ship

-

As visitors and residents watch lakers and saltwater vessels pass up and down the Welland Canal at the 39th annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival in Port Colborne this long weekend, they can enter to win a trip on a Great Lakes ship.

The Chamber of Marine Commerce partnered with Canada Steamship Lines on the trip as part of its second summer festival program to raise awareness of the marine industry and its investment in innovation and environmental stewardship.

The contest will be the star attraction at the chamber’s exhibitor booth on West Street, between Victoria and Kent streets, at the marine heritage festival. The chamber is also sponsoring Empire Sandy tall ship cruises during the festival.

CSL is offering the trip on one of its Trillium-class vessels, which run more efficiently than other vessels, using less fuel and with significant reductions in emissions.

“This is a rare opportunity to see first-hand all the bells and whistles on a world-class, 21st-century Great Lakes freighter as it sails through one of the most beautiful areas in the world,” said Bruce Burrows, Chamber of Marine Commerce president.

The contest is open to Ontario residents 18 or older. The winner and one guest to participate in a one-and-ahalf day experience aboard a CSL Trillium-class vessel between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31 of this year or May 1, 2018, and Oct. 31, 2018.
