Pelham Cares embarks on 35th year

- Tracy Holmwood President Pelham Cares board of directors

As Pelham Cares enters its 35th year of serving the community of Pelham, we would like to express our gratitude to this generous community.

Throughout the year, and especially during the holiday season, the donations of food, personal care items, household products, toys, and money, grants, contributions of many volunteers and the support of local media allow us to continue to assist families in our community.

The need in our community continues, often due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, job loss, utility bills or a car repair that stretches already limited resources. Our ability to assist families in putting food on their tables during these times is met with a great deal of gratitude.

Our youth services program helps families in keeping their children active and engaged with their peers in sports, recreational and educational pursuits. And on the other end of the spectrum, our volunteer drivers provide much needed transportation for residents, mostly seniors, to medical appointments, when other means are not available or viable.

Thank you to the individuals, businesses large and small, social clubs, schools, and churches for your ongoing support and for putting your faith in our organization. Thank you to our amazing volunteers who logged upwards of 4,000 hours and drove more than 25,000 kilometres to make it all happen. As they say ‘it takes a village,’ which is so true in this situation.
