Mother Nature has drawn a technical foul from teams and basketball fans at Ontario’s oldest high school tournament.

All four semifinal games at the 63rd Tribune Boys Basketball Tournament, originally scheduled to take place Friday in Welland, were postponed due to inclement weather.

Postponements until Saturday morning were ordered about an hour before the tipoff of a consolation semifinal between Greater Fort Erie and Jean Vanier. That game had been set to get underway at 3:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, the remaining six games in the 16-team tournament will all be played Saturday at Notre Dame College School at Welland.

Semifinal-round games will take place in both gyms at the Catholic high school beginning at 10 a.m., with Greater Fort Erie-Vanier taking place in the Belcastro Gym; and, on the championship side of the tournament bracket, Denis Morris Reds taking on the Welland Centennial Cougars in Dillon Hall.

The 11:30 a.m. games will have the consolation semifinal pitting the Eden Flyers against the Saint Michael Mustangs, Belcastro Gym; and the reigning champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish versus the Governor Simcoe Reds, Dillon Hall.

The consolation and championship finals will now start 30 minutes later at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively, also at Notre Dame. Both will be played at Dillon Hall.
