Crowds flock to Clifton Hill
Crowds of local residents braved frigid temperatures Sunday for the annual $1 Museum Day for Cystic Fibrosis on Clifton Hill.
The popular event, now in its 30th year, allows Niagara Falls residents to enjoy some of the attractions on Clifton Hill for a reduced admission of $1.
“I’m here today to have fun with my family,” said eight-year-old Madyson Fragomeni.
Her friend Samantha Keeso, 10, said the Movieland Wax Museum was her favourite attraction.
“I like seeing all the characters,” she said.
Madyson agreed.
“It’s my favourite, too, because my mom use to work here.”
Jessye Hamilton looks forward to event each year. “I’ve been coming since I was a kid and now that I have little ones it’s great to see things through their eyes. Plus, it supports a great cause.”
All funds raised from the day-long event supported Cystic Fibrosis Canada’ s ongoing research to improve the lives of people affected by the deadly genetic disorder which attacks the lungs and digestive system.
Nancy Clayton, vice-president of the Niagara chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada, said the event has been held in all sorts of weather, and visitors always come prepared to take on whatever Mother Nature throws their way.
“There are a lot of hardy Canadians out there,” she said. “They’re embracing the weather. They are having a great time enjoying themselves.”
According to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, one in every 3,600 children born in Canada has cystic fibrosis.
