Papineau had best effort of the night

Nearing the halfway pole of the league’s last segment and Paul Asselin would have his team bowling no other way.

The Ontario and Niagara hall of famer got a full effort from his Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s as they took down the Niagara Five Pin Mixed Pro League leading Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks 2-1.

The Wellander sparked his troops with a solid 774 (258, 291, 225) while being pushed along by Jeff Stevens’ 754 (221, 318), Frank Newman’s 753 (261, 259, 233) and Wendy Bonnette who rounded out the scoring with 744 (271, 268).

Dave Pendlebury led the Canucks’ reply with a smooth 784 (217, 271, 296). Rob Fisher chipped in with 717 (231, 226,260).

In other matches Chantal Papineau had the best individual effort of the night, scorching the lanes for a 805 (339, 206, 260) to lead the Crossfire Wrestling Piledriver­s to a 2-1 win over the Lakeside Electrical Lightning.

She had help from Matt Vendittell­i, who tossed 721 (230, 288), and John Wendel, who added 680 (233, 242).

The Lightning struck back with Shawn Pellizari’s 725 (294, 242). Tyler Wendel wasn’t far behind with 698 (231, 244).

The Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints brought tears to the eyes of the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers blanking them 3-0.

Adam Eckhardt had the hot hand for the Half Pints, rolling a steady 754 (215, 276, 263) while

Rob Macdonald was hot on is heels with 724 (294, 242) and Mickey Pikor contribute­d 654 (223, 261).

The Town Criers answered with Chris Disher’s 654 (225, 243).

In the evening’s final match, the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic made the Wine Place Whiners disappear from their rear-view mirror as they took two of three games. Devon Pellizari took the reins for the Magic, rolling a stellar 795 (270, 270, 255) while Brian McFarlane checked in with 740 ( 293, 242) and Joanne Durocher tossed 667 (249, 216). The Whiners replied with Sara Kennedy’s 715 (283, 218), P.J. Cole’s 704 (229, 280) and Trish Bosje who carded 699 (212, 285).
