Wrong turn leads to bust at Peace Bridge
Two Windsor residents have been arrested after cocaine and marijuana was found in a vehicle at the Peace Bridge earlier this month.
In a joint press release, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canada Border Services Agency said a male and female were intercepted at the international border crossing in Fort Erie after making a wrong turn.
Examination by a CBSA officer revealed an outstanding warrant for the female.
During secondary examination, border officers discovered and seized approximately 208 grams of cocaine and approximately 495 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.
The two people were arrested and transferred along with the evidence to RCMP.
The driver of the vehicle, Justice Pagie Teremchuk, 21, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The passenger of the vehicle, Andrew Korey Norton, 27, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, assault and failure to comply with undertaking.
Insp. Ann Koenig, acting
RCMP southwest district commander, said partnerships play a “pivotal role in reducing crime and keeping our communities safe.”
Linda Robertson, CBSA’s acting director of Fort Erie district operations in the southern Ontario region, said she is proud of officers who are “committed to stopping illegal activity at our borders and protecting Canadians.”
