79 Lynton Davies Air Cadet Squadron set for review

Cadets from 79 Lynton Davies Air Cadet Squadron will be recognized for outstandin­g achievemen­t and dedication during its 77th annual ceremonial review.

Port Colborne Mayor John Maloney will act as reviewing officer during the review Saturday, June 2, at Russell Aviation Group Airport, 12761 Sodom Rd., Niagara Falls.

The event, which begins at 10 a.m., marks the end of the training year for the squadron.

“For the cadets, it marks the progressio­n from one training level to another. It also provides cadets with the opportunit­y to show their parents, friends and local community members what they have learned during the year, as well as the pride, discipline and team spirit they have developed,” the squadron said in a release.

The ceremony will consist of a formal march-on, ceremonial inspection of ranks by the reviewing officer, a parade marchpast, and demonstrat­ions.

“Many of the cadets will be recognized for outstandin­g achievemen­t and dedication with presentati­ons of awards during the ceremony.”

After the review, there will be a change-of-command ceremony as Capt. Joseph Belansky takes over from Capt. Carey Ann Marshall.
