Advance voting starts Saturday
Advance voting for the June 7 provincial election begins Saturday.
Voter information cards have been mailed to registered electors.
Voters are reminded to bring their card and one piece of identification that shows their name to vote.
If a voter is not on the voters list, bring a piece of identification that shows both their name and residential address.
Ontario electors can find a list of acceptable identification documents, along with information about when and where to vote, at elections.on.ca.
Canadian citizens who reside in Ontario and are at least 18 years of age on election day are eligible to vote.
Advance voting in the Niagara Falls riding will be May 26-30 at the MacBain Community Centre in Niagara Falls, the Leisurplex Banquet Hall in Fort Erie and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre, and from May 26-June 1 at the returning office in Niagara Falls, located at the Canadian Tire plaza, 3770 Montrose Road, unit 1B.
Advance voting hours are from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
Kathleen Quiquero, a longtime returning officer for the Niagara Falls riding, said advance voting is becoming “very busy.”
“I think we are finding that people are going to advance polls maybe want to make sure that they get out to vote and not sure what June 7 might bring on their schedules,” she said.
“A lot of people are taking advantage of the weekend voting that is available during advance pools, too. People are taking advantage of the more days, more ways to vote.”
Assistive voting technology will be available in all returning offices and satellite offices from May 26-June 6 at 6 p.m.
Electors can vote by special ballot at a returning office or through home visit until 6 p.m., June 6.
Election day is June 7. Polls will open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
