Attempted murder charges laid in Niagara Falls double stabbing

- Metroland

Nearly one month after two men from Toronto were allegedly stabbed outside Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, Niagara police arrested three suspects, charging them with attempted murder.

The charges stem from an incident on April 29, when, just before 2 a.m., police and paramedics responded to 911 calls reporting a stabbing in the area. Officers flooded the area, locating the two injured men, both of whom had serious injuries.

Paramedics treated them at the scene, and they were taken to the hospital. They were later flown to an out-of-region trauma hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The investigation has determined there was an altercation between two groups which took place on the east sidewalk of Fallsview Boulevard in front of the casino. The two victims fled into the casino to get help, while others involved in the altercation fled the area.

After a month-long investigation, police arrested three men Monday from the Greater Toronto Area.

Piraveen Paramananthan, 22, of Toronto; Sugarshan Chandramohan, 22, of Uxbridge; and Suvisan Chandramohan, 23, of Uxbridge, are each charged with three counts of attempted murder.

Police say their investigation is ongoing, with a possible fourth suspect outstanding.

Detectives thanked the public and other police services for their help. Anyone with information can call 905-688-4111 ext. 9631.
