Seahawks top Argonauts in minor football
The St. Catharines Seahawks defeated Niagara Falls Argos 19-6 in an atom Niagara Minor Football Association game at played Sunday at Kiwanis Field.
Cameron Newbold scored two touchdowns for the Seahawks. Elijah Jama had one touchdown, and Wyatt Brown kicked a PAT.
Jay Turner had two interceptions, and Lincoln Marsh had one. Brodie Storin chipped in with a fumble recovery while honourable mention goes to Ethan Barrow on defence and the offensive line.
Carson Gauthier caught a touchdown pass from Austin Macrae for the Argonauts.
The West Niagara Steelers defeated Fort Erie Longhorns 35-26 in peewee play.
Scoring for the Longhorns were Max Heron with two touchdown runs and Grant Spada with one. Spada also added an extra point.
Andre Hoffman ran for a touchdown. Kingsley Vernon recovered a fumble.
For the Steelers, Lucas Hazelton ran for two touchdowns and threw for another. Jayden Gurzi MacDonald ran for two touchdowns, and two extra points while William McDevitt had a touchdown reception and ran for an extra point. Elijah Mercer kicked an extra point.
William McDevitt had an outstanding effort on offence. Cole Haan and Johnny Breen had outstanding efforts on defence.
In an atom game, it was the Longhorns over the Steelers 27-12.
Calem Smith scored two touchdowns for the Longhorns. Chase Wentworth-Perry had one touchdown. Ryan General had a touchdown and three extra points. Jordan Payne had a fumble recovery.
Matthew McDevitt had an outstanding effort on offence. Emilio DiNardo had an outstanding effort on defence.
In atom play, the St. Catharines Seahawks also defeated Niagara Falls Lions, 29-13.
Dhabi Williams scored one touchdown for the Seahawks. Alex Calaza had one touchdown and a two-point PAT.
Ezekiel Langendoen scored a touchdown. Josh Savoie had a
touchdown and a PAT.
Lucas Panucci had two touchdowns and an extra point for the Lions.
In bantam play, the Falcons defeated the Longhorns 12-6.
Malachi Tempeny scored two touchdowns for the Falcons. Ryan McIntyre had an interception.
For the Longhorns, Kaiden Craft scored a touchdown.
In bantam play, the St. Catharines Seahawks edged Niagara Falls Argonauts 38-36.
Deondre Forde had three touchdowns and a two-point convert. Quinn Johnston had three touchdowns while Rayden Guthro and Darius Best had fumble recoveries.
For the Argos, Micheal Grimo scored four touchdowns. Aden Martinez had one touchdown and a two-point convert. Nevan Smith had a two-point convert. Carter Mackinnon had an interception.
