Intrasquad games at training camp

Returning players, recent draft picks, prospects and free agents will all be putting their best skates forward when the Niagara IceDogs begin their training camp next week at Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines.

Capping off the first week of tryouts is an exhibition game 7 p.m. Friday versus the Barrie Colts at Thorold Community Arena.

Before the IceDogs take the ice against an Ontario Hockey League opponent, they will be playing 11 intrasquad games at Meridian Centre, all of them open to the public.

Four games are on tap Tuesday, 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m.; four more Wednesday, 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m.; and three Thursday, 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 7 p.m.

Access to Meridian Centre will be through the Rankin Bridge and box office entrances a half-hour before all scrimmages.

Tickets to the Friday, Aug. 31, exhibition game are $10 each and available at the Thorold Arena office, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or by calling 906-227-1946. Tickets can also be purchased at Snapd.com.

All proceeds from ticket sales support Thorold minor hockey. The IceDogs’ second pre-season home away from home is Fleming Centre in Beamsville, where the team will face the Kitchener Rangers in 7 p.m. faceoff Saturday, Sept. 15.

Tickets are $15 with all proceeds benefittin­g the Lincoln Minor Hockey Associatio­n.
