Musical event supports horse rescue group
The fourth annual Rock the Barn in support of Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue is happening Sunday with a full lineup of local talent.
The event will also include door prizes and other fun activities for visitors to enjoy. This year features the first hay purchasing campaign aptly named “We’ve got hay fever — Let’s move the hay.”
For every $5 bail of hay purchased, the buyer will receive a free T-shirt from Last Chance and the hay will go to the horses at the sanctuary.
The full day of music will feature Spencer Mackenzie, Max Hillier, John Navarroli, Alexa Alfano, Neo Young, Nicole Cerminara, Jacob Stirpe, John Kossup, Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn Tribute, Tim Hebert and Borderline and Bryce Moore.
Sharon Wallace, founder of Last Chance, says the money raised will go to help the rescue animals and continue programs in the community.
Last Chance is a non-profit charity organization that has been rescuing horses, ponies and other animals for 13 years. The organization rehabilitates the animals into therapy animals giving back to the community through their work.
Tickets are $10 and include a hotdog, corn and a drink. They can be purchased in advance at Last Chance or at the door. Event organizers recommend bringing a chair or a blanket.
Rock the Barn runs noon to 5 p.m. at 4621 Michener Rd., Ridgeway.
