Generals go 1-3 on their home turf

Niagara atoms snap a four-game losing streak by defeating Durham Dolphins

Only one Niagara Generals team feasted on home cooking Saturday when four Ontario Football League games were played at Kiwanis Field in St. Catharines.

Ezekiel Langendoen scored three touchdowns and added a one-point convert as the Niagara atoms defeated the Durham Dolphins 27-14 snapping a four-game losing streak.

Hudson Grant, with a touchdown; and Cameron Kotyk, twopoint conversion; also provided points for the Generals.

Niagara improved to 3-4 and visits the Waterloo Predators 10 a.m. Saturday to close out the regular season.

Jak Buckland, Isabella Dimichele, Carter Smith and Charlie Vansoelen were standout on a Generals defence that forced several turnovers in the game.

Jr. Mustangs 39, Generals 19

In bantam Tier 1 action on the turf, host Niagara fell to 2-5 in league losing for the second time as many weeks.

Generals quarterbac­k Jackson

threw two touchdown passes to Nick Longo and one to Quinn Johnston.

Ryan Broome rounded out the Niagara scoring with two extra points.

Lucas Hazelton had an intercepti­on for the Generals.

Niagara visits the Hamilton Jr. Tiger-Cats 10 a.m. Saturday.

Jr. Mustangs 72, Generals 8

Austin Macrae accounted for all the Niagara scoring with a touchdown and twopoint conversion as his team dropped to 2-5 in the peewee standings.

Calm Smith intercepte­d a pass for the Generals who lost their second in a row.

“Although the score does not show it, our boys played a very hard-fought game,” head coach Bruce Macrae said.

Niagara’s regular-season finale is on the road against the Vaughan Rebels 6 p.m. Saturday.

Predators 34, Generals 0

Niagara Tier 2 bantams fell to 1-5-1 heading into their final game of the regular season.

Cole Stewart, who recovered two fumbles, and Joey Dilse and Liam McAvoy, who each intercepte­d a pass, came up big on defence for the Generals.

Niagara visits the Brantford Bisons at noon Saturday hoping to win for the first time since defeating the Bowmanvill­e TNT Express 12-2 in the season opener.
