Red Ribbon show aids Fort Erie Arts Council

The banquet hall at Fort Erie Leisureplex will be art central this weekend as Fort Erie Arts Council returns with its annual Red Ribbon Art Exhibition and Sale.

The event takes place Saturday 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature the works of some 50 artist members, including senior students from the private Niagara Christian Collegiate, as well as a handful of post-secondary school students pursuing art.

Donna MacLeod, chair of both the arts council and the event, said the evening will feature more than visual art; it will be a music-filled evening with performances by high-profile Niagara music artists Serena Pryne and Nick Riot (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and the Max Hiller Band (9 p.m. to 11 p.m.)

There will also be brews on hand from Brimstone Brewery, as well as appetizers from Crave Local Fresh, which is located within the brewery. Rich’s is providing dessert.

“It’s quite a filled evening,” MacLeod said of the fundraiser, which is in its 14th year.

Proceeds from the event go toward sustaining the non-profit organization, which hosts a gallery and runs programming for adults and kids out of the space it recently started renting on Ridge Road in Ridgeway.

Tickets for the exhibition are $10 at the door. For more information, visit facebook.com/ fort erie arts council.
