Another name change, same objections

RE: MASSIVE DEVELOPMENT COULD FACE LONG ROAD, NOV. 1

-

I am very grateful for the incredible information The Review has provided its readers over the past year. Without insightful knowledge we would be uninformed of the various decision of our local government.

However, with each day I have become increasingly confused about the constant name changes to the Thundering Waters development, which was renamed as Riverfront Community, and now appears to have changed names again to “Paradise Walk Development” (found on Facebook for those who would like to see the newest video).

I question how this development has passed so many levels of local government when there have been valid roadblocks at every turn. This project keeps gaining momentum and yet is met by so much legitimate push back. We have been informed with responsible global articles about how we are losing natural habitat and animal species in the world and yet everyone, including our city councillors and Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, quickly gave approval to this huge project.

After viewing the plans all I can see is a massive amount of disruption to the natural land replaced by even larger amounts of concrete. It doesn’t matter how lovely the artist’s rendition of the development may appear, it is an enormous destruction of trees, natural habitat, and sensitive wetlands. I really hope the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal really takes a good hard look at what we are losing.
