Brutes nail Hammerhead­s in 5-pin league action

The third and final segment of the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League season got underway with several hot hands, none more so than the Ontario Street Boston Pizza Brutes who lambasted the Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s, 3-0.

Rob Fisher took charge for the winners, firing a sizzling 814 (291, 265, 258) while getting backed up by Jordan Gravelle’s 760 (304, 274).

The Hammerhead­s fought back with Chris Disher, who had the best individual showing of the night, tossing a scorching 846 (255, 318, 273). Rob Macdonald chipped in with 683 (266, 213).

Elsewhere, the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic blanked the Wine Place Whiners, 3-0.

Brad Maurice had the hot hand for the Magic, firing a solid 811

(310, 256, 245) to lead the way while getting a boost from Chantal Papineau’s 771 (224, 207, 340).

The Whiners answered with

Trish Aubertin’s 612 (211, 206).

The Lakeside Electrical Lightning took two of three from the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints as Tyler Wendel was a model of consistenc­y for the Lightning, rolling 812 (277, 275, 260). Jordan Terry backed him up with 752 (342, 251), Brian McFarlane chipped in with 649 (246).

The Half Pints shot back with Adam Eckhardt’s 804 (281, 306, 217) and Shawn Pellizari’s 644 (233, 208).

In the night’s final match, the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers edged the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks, 2-1. Kile Robins paced the Town Criers with a solid 778 (214, 233, 331) while getting help from Tim Dixon’s 744 (243, 279, 222).

The Canucks answered with Brad Gaudreau, who continued his excellent season, tossing a masterful 834 (323, 249, 262). Sarah Stevens followed him with 777 (254, 255, 268).
