Winter’s howling winds got you down? Hang in there, the Niagara Parks Summer Concert Series will return in four months.

The annual free outdoor series has put out the call for bands to perform from June to September in Queen Victoria Park. The Parks is looking for artists which “reflect the cultural and artistic landscape of Canada” in applicants, and along with original music should have a repertoire of classic hits ranging from the ’50s to present day.

All genres of music will be considered, so long as it abides by the “family friendly atmosphere and casual dining experience of Queen Victoria Place.”

Last year’s series offered more than 50 concerts, including local acts like Theatre Crisp, Chelsea Crites and Jessica Wilson.

“It’s a wonderful gig and I’ve had nothing but great experiences working with Niagara Parks,” says Wilson. “It really is a very unique venue. They get tons of applications, so I would just recommend to people that they really take their time when applying. And make sure their social links are set up properly.”

Interested acts can submit an application at www.niagaraparks. com/band-application

Applications will be accepted until March 4. Performances generally run from 8 to 10 p.m., followed by fireworks. Artists were paid for their performances in both 2017 and 2018.
