Health-care app streamlines medical records for people with chronic illness

-

After being diagnosed with a chronic illness, Oakville’s Kristy Dickinson found she was overwhelmed by the paperwork, appointments and medical data.

“There was a period in my life where I had binders of medical information that I took to every appointment,” said Dickinson, who has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome — a group of disorders that affect connective tissues supporting the skin, bones, blood vessels, and other organs.

“I knew there had to be a better way, so I set out to create an app to help me manage my health care so that I could be there for my family.”

Chronically Simple is a health-care app that allows patients to keep their medical information “at their fingertips” and share it with medical team members.

The app streamlines the organization of a patient’s medical records, diagnostic images and test results, as well as offering appointment reminders and calendars, and linking healthcare provider details with associated checkups or prescriptions.

Chronically Simple also includes medication- and healthrelated expense trackers for tax purposes.

The app was acquired by Oakville-based Innomar Strategies, and Dickinson is pleased it will now “be able to evolve and scale to support more patients as they manage their individual journeys.”

Chronically Simple puts the power in the hands of the patient, said Innomar president Guy Payette.

“We are committed to investing in innovative digital tools that help optimize outcomes, and Chronically Simple does just that, through an easyto-use mobile interface,” said Payette.

Patients can subscribe to Chronically Simple online at chronicallysimple.com or by downloading the application through the App Store or Google Play.
