Pawn shop to temporarily reopen following police raid
Owners of items being held at a Niagara Falls pawn shop, where three employees were arrested in April, are being advised to contact police to make arrangements to retrieve their property.
Niagara Regional Police began an investigation in April into the trafficking of stolen property.
A search warrant was executed in May at Niagara Pawnbrokers in Niagara Falls. Three employees of the Main Street business were arrested on site. The pawn shop had been closed since the police raid.
Detectives seized more than $30,000 worth of merchandise and more than $40,000 in cash. The property included jewelry, power tools, bikes and electronics.
Police said the seized property is believed to have been stolen during thefts and break and enters across Niagara.
Police on Wednesday said arrangements have been made to allow the pawn shop to temporarily reopen between Aug. 26 and Sept. 9 to allow the public to retrieve items from the premises.

Meanwhile, Hai M. Tran, 42, of Brampton, awaits trial on a multitude of charges extortion, obstructing a peace officer, possession of property obtained, trafficking property obtained by crime and two counts of extortion.
Tai H. Nguyen, 64, and Dao Kim Nguyen, 63, both of Niagara Falls, face charges of property obtained by crime, possession of proceeds of crime, and extortion.
