Ciolfi puts together his best night ever with 957 triple

- JEFF STEVENS SPECIAL TO THE ST. CATHARINES STANDARD

Chris Ciolfi has had some good moments in his time in the Niagara Five Pin Mixed Pro League, but recently he had his best night ever.

He led the Canucks to a 3-0 sweep of the league-leading Town Criers. Ciolfi masterfully strung together games of 322, 273 and 362 for a lane-scorching 957, the highest series rolled in the league this year, besting the previous high by one pin.

The Canucks also tossed the highest team triple of the season, a 3,074, in knocking off the league leaders. Trish Aubertin supported Ciolfi’s effort with a solid 751 (248, 267, 236), while Chris Disher’s 726 (240, 228, 258) and Brian McFarlane’s 640 (228) rounded out the scoring.

The Town Criers replied with Shawn Pellizari’s 795 (252, 224, 319), Kayla Ferguson’s 780 (252, 276, 252) and Dave Pendlebury’s 733 (241, 295).

The Gutterballs came out on the right end of the second sweep of the week, blanking the Magic 3-0 in a match that saw them lose only a single head-tohead match all evening.

Vicky Robins took the reins for the winners, blasting the boards for an 810 (279, 280, 251) while getting help from Duran Size, who backed her up with 763 (233, 277, 253). The Magic replied with Josh Robins’ 732 (216, 275, 241), helped out by P.J. Cole’s 677 (224, 230).

The Lightning and the Half Pints ended the nightcap in a rare tie. They played to a deadlock in the first game of the match before splitting the last two.

Rob Fisher sparked the Lightning with a sizzling 804 (312, 268, 224) set while getting pushed by Joe Thomas’s 692 (244, 241) and Lindsay Richardson’s 691 (239, 243).

The Half Pints were led by Tyler Wendel, who once again flirted with the vaunted 800 series, settling with 799 (304, 264, 231), while being pushed by Kile Robins, who chipped in with 749 (249, 216, 284).
