Lightning on a roll, moving into second place

Fisher leads team to 2-1 win with 813 triple

The Lightning as a team were on fire in the Niagara Five Pin Mixed Pro League and rode that wave to a 2-1 win over the Town Criers, which also helped them leapfrog into second place, a mere half-point out of first, with two weeks remaining in the league’s first set.

Rob Fisher sparked the Lightning with his best night of the season, rolling a sizzling 813 (261, 240, 312), while rookie Lindsay Richardson was right behind with the ladies secondhigh­est series this year — a blistering 806 (254, 342, 211), including the highest ladies single of the year so far. Joe Thomas rounded out the scoring for the winners with a steady 731 (210, 307, 214).

The Town Criers answered with Shawn Pellizari, who had the best individual performanc­e of the night, a monster 870 (261, 269, 340), while Dave Pendlebury backed him up with 655 (236, 223).

In the closest match of the night, the Canucks edged the Magic 2-1 on the strength of Chris Ciolfi’s 659 (215, 236), Chris Disher’s 655 (220, 261) and Brian McFarlane’s 632 (265). The Magic shot back with Josh Robins, who tossed 706 (230, 306), and P.J. Cole, who checked in with 675 (261, 239).

The Half Pints knocked off the

Gutterball­s 2-1 in the nightcap. Tyler Wendel continued his ascent up the men’s high average list, leading the Half Pints with a stellar 856 (254, 264, 338), while getting help from Kile Robins, who added 730 (269, 266). The Gutterball­s returned fire with Duran Size, who threw 693 (243, 228), and Rich Vassos, who rounded out the scoring with 647 (214, 253).
