-

The St. Catharines Falcons are continuing to round out their on-ice leadership group.

On Tuesday, the junior B hockey team named secondyear forward Trent Glenney as one of three alternates who will assist captain Brady Caruso in mentoring younger players.

Head coach Tyler Bielby said the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League team expects the other alternates will be announced before the start of the 2021 season.

Glenney, who is from Fenwick, turns 20 in January. The six-foot-one, 190-pound, lefthand shot had seven goals and 10 assists in 41 regular-season games in his rookie season with the Falcons. He collected an assist in four playoff games before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Caruso, 20, of Sault Ste. Marie put up five goals and 17 assists in 46 games in his first year in the

GOJHL after starting his junior career with parts of three seasons in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and part of one in the Central Canada Hockey League.

League play is tentatively slated to get underway Jan. 15, with action taking place in six fourteam miniconferences. St. Catharines will initially be grouped with the Brantford Bandits, Caledonia Corvairs and Hamilton Kilty B’s, while the Fort Erie Meteors, Niagara Falls Canucks, Pelham Panthers and Thorold Blackhawks will begin play in a Niagara Region cohort. The Buffalo Regals and the Welland Jr. Canadians have been both granted oneyear leaves of absences.
