Golfers aim to raise $10 K
World Championship Martial Arts hosts Drive for the Kids event for Big Brothers Big Sisters
There is still time to sign up for Drive for the Kids, a charity golf tournament organized by World Championship Martial Arts, 871 Chemong Rd. to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peterborough. The tournament take place Sunday, Aug. 7 at The Quarry Golf Club, located at 447 Tara Rd., Ennismore.
“Our goal is to raise $10,000 for our local charity,” says World Championship Martial Arts owner, Jordan Preston.
The tournament is a shot gun start at 12 p.m. and the cost is $100 per single golf er or $400 for a team. This entrance fee includes a golf cart, a round of 18 holes, dinner and a ticket for a silent auction. Sign up sheets for the tournament are available at World Championship Martial Arts, 871 Chemong Rd.
There is still time to become a sponsor for the event. Opportunities are available for varying amounts and benefits. The benefits for a Master Sponsor ($1,500) is eight players, a banner and a tee box sign; for Elite Sponsors ($1,000) four players, banner and tee box sign; for Supporting Sponsors ($650) four players and a tee box sign; and for a $200 sponsorship your benefit is a tee box sign.

Vinnies
Vinnies, the St. Vincent De Paul store located at 799 Erskine Ave., is celebrating their 5 th anniversary at this location. A celebration takes place Aug. 6. There will be a host of free goodies, including barbecue, and cake from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., with cotton candy and face painting for the kids. Be sure to stop around and help them celebrate!
Vin ni es would also like to remind you, that if you are cleaning out your closets please keep them in mind. Donations of gently used clothing, shoes, books and household items are accepted at the store Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Make a donation and collect $5 in Vinnies Bucks which can be used in the store on purchases to taling $25 or more.
All money raised through sales at the store stays in Peterborough to support work of the Peterborough Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Last year they helped 20,000 families in our community. As Vin ni es receives neither government funding nor United Way support, they rely on members, supporters and revenue from the store to fund their charita- ble works and outreach projects.
