Gavin top local at Ontario junior golf

Kawartha Golf and Country Club’s Luke Gavin finished tied for 20th at the 2016 Investors Group Ontario Junior Boys’ Golf Championship at the Listowel Golf Club. Gavin fired rounds of 76-70-70-75291 for a +3 score, nine strokes behind champion Peyton Callens of Delhi Golf and Country Club. The four-day event concluded on Friday. Peterborough Golf and Country Club’s Jackson Weichel (74-76-7776–303) finished tied for 56th and Tyler White (76-72-86-80-314) finished 70th. KGCC’s Mathew Stevens and Ryan Ahrens missed the cut after 36 holes. Sam Meek qualified for the event but opted instead to compete at the U.S. Junior Championship in California.
