Lakers held to a goal
Major Series Lacrosse final to return to Peterborough Tuesday after Six Nations won Game 4 by 8-1 score Sunday.
The Victoria Shamrocks picked up an 11-9 road win over the Maple Ridge Burrards in Game 2 of the Western Lacrosse Association final on Friday night to even the best-ofseven series 1-1.
Game 3 was Sunday night in Victoria but a final score was not available at press time. The winner will travel east for the Mann Cup.
Adanacs One Win Away
Someone from Peterborough will be celebrating regardless of who wins the Minto Cup national junior A lacrosse championship.
There are Peterborough connections to both finalists. Local native Kyle Sorensen is an assistant coach with the Coquitlam Adanacs and Thomas Hoggarth plays for the Orangeville Northmen along with his former junior A Lakers’ teammate Matt Gilray.
The Adanacs led the best-of-five series 2-1 heading into action Sunday night in Langley, B.C. A final score was not available at press time. Coquitlam took a lead in the series with a 9-7 win Saturday night.
Roster Notes
Chad Culp and Bryce Sweeting were back in the lineup for Peterborough on Sunday. Holden Cattoni and Jake Fox were removed to make way for them. Turner Evans and Joel Matthews remained out with injuries.
The big news for Six Nations was the return of Cody Jamieson who missed the opening three games of the series, and the final two games against Brooklin in the semifinals, with a knee injury.
Dhane Smith, who hobbled off the floor in period three of Game 3, did dress for the Chiefs. Craig Point, Vaughan Harris and Brier Jonathan did not with Stephen Keogh returning to action and Roger Vyse suiting up as a call up from senior B. Doug Jamieson also replaced Warren Hill as the back-up goalie.
