One man was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of injuries related to a possible stabbing in an upper-level apartment in a building on the north west corner of Water and London streets early Tuesday afternoon.

The injured male arrived at the nearby city police station at about 1:45 p.m. after an altercation between he and an unknown suspect, police stated in a press release. Paramedics attended and the man was taken to hospital.

Police officers could be seen in the area of Water and London streets canvassing for possible witnesses and also darting in and out of the third-floor apartment, the stairway to which was cordoned off with yellow police tape.

Plain-clothed detectives and forensic identification officers with cameras in their hand could also be seen at the scene.

Citizens in the area indicated there has been a drug-related stabbing, but that information has yet to be confirmed or denied by police. More information will be released when available, police said.
