Burglary charge

A man faces charges after a break-in at a Peterborough house while its residents were inside Saturday at about 9 p.m. Police say the intruder and one of the residents, who know each other, got into a physical altercation before the housebreaker fled. The canine unit was called in and a suspect located. Andrew John Schmutzer, 32, of no fixed address, was charged with assault, break and enter and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held in custody and was to appear in court Wednesday via video.
