COBOURG - Peterborough native John Epping’s rink is in sole possession of first place after the fourth day of the Recharge with Milk Tankard provincial men’s curling championships at the Cobourg Community Centre on Wednesday.
Team Epping, out of the Leaside Curling Club in Toronto, edged Team Balsdon 9-8 on Wednesday night to remain unbeaten at 6-0.
Peterborough native Don Bowser is vice for Greg Balsdon’s Cataraqui rink, which fell to 2-3.
OnWednesdayafternoondefending champion Glenn Howard was edged 9-8 by Team Harris to fall to 5-1 in second place.
Team Epping and Team Howard will be in a showdown on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in a a rematch of last year’s Tankard final in Brantford where Howard prevailed in a lastshot 6-5 comeback.
Peterborough’s Jeff Grant is lead for Cody Maus’s Highland Country Club foursome, which improved to 3-3 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile Epping’s cousin Jenna Bonner, of Peterborough, who is lead with the Team Auld rink, is at 2-2 after a 6-3 loss to Team Harrison on Wednesday afternoon in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, also being held at the Tean Auld lead Jenna Bonner from Team Auld throws a stone during her match against Jacqueline Harrison's rink. Harrison won 6-3 in Wednesday afternoon draw at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women's championship at the Cobourg Community Centre. Team Auld dropped to 2-2.
