10-point night for Schreiber

TORONTO — Tom Schreiber had three goals and set up seven more to lead the Toronto Rock past the Buffalo Bandits 18-10 on Friday in National Lacrosse League action.

Brett Hickey had a hat trick and added four assists for Toronto (3-1), while Stephan Leblanc scored twice with seven assists. Dan Lintner had three goals, Kasey Beirnes and Mike MacDonald had two goals apiece, while Peterborou­gh’s Turner Evans, Jesse Gamble and Damon Edwards added singles. Nick Rose made 38 saves for the win.

Alex Kedoh Hill, Craig England and Dhane Smith scored two goals each for Buffalo (1-4). Ryan Benesch had a goal and two assists, while Kevin Brownell, Andrew Watt and Mitch Jones also found the back of the net. Davide DiRuscio stopped 24-of-34 shots for the Bandits in 40:22 of work and earning the loss. Anthony Cosmo turned aside 18-of-26 shots in relief.

The Rock were 2 for 8 on the power play and Buffalo was 2 for 3 with the man advantage.

Five-point night for Evans

UNCASVILLE, Ct. -Peterborou­gh’s Shawn Evans had two goals and three assists and Peterborou­gh Laker Chad Culp scored the winning goal in overtime as the New England Black Wolves beat the Rochester Knighthawk­s 10-9 on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Peterborou­gh’s Cory Vitarelli had a goal and two assists for Rochester after returning to the Knighthawk­s lineup from injury.

First loss for Swarm

DENVER – The Colorado Mammoth handed the Georgia Swarm their first loss of the National Lacrosse League season on Saturday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Peterborou­gh Laker Chad Tutton had an assist for the Swarm in the 14-10 loss.

Matthews scores four goals

CALGARY — Mark Matthews scored four goals and Aaron Bold made 46 saves as the Saskatchew­an Rush got past the Calgary Roughnecks 15-11 on Saturday night in National Lacrosse League action.

Ben McIntosh had a hat trick and Adam Jones struck twice for Saskatchew­an (3-2). Matt Hossack, Nik Bilic, Jeremy Thompson, Adrian Sorichetti, Matthew Dinsdale and Robert Church supplied the rest of the offence.

Peterborou­gh Laker Curtis Dickson and Dane Dobbie scored three goals apiece for the Roughnecks (3-2). Tyler Digby had a pair of goals while Peterborou­gh Laker Holden Cattoni, Jeff Shattler and Wesley Berg also chipped in. Frank Scigliano turned away 43 shots.

The Rush converted on their only power play and Calgary went 4 for 5.
