New principal for Kenner
Jennifer Knox replaces Ron MacDonald who is joining Fleming College’s School of Environmental and Natural Resources Sciences
Kenner Collegiate principal Ron MacDonald is joining Fleming College as chairman of the School of Environmental and Natural Resources Sciences at the Frost Campus in Lindsay.
The appointment follows the retirement of Linda Skilton, dean and Frost Campus principal at the School of Environmental and Natural Resources Sciences for the past 11 years.
MacDonald is being replaced, effective Monday, as principal at the south-end public high school by Jennifer Knox, the current viceprincipal of Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School, Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board trustees decided Thursday night.
Knox is returning to Kenner, where she was vice-principal from September 2009 to August 2011. Knox has also been a viceprincipal at Campbellford District High School and the PACE at PCVS alternative education program.
Meanwhile Jodi Whetung will be retiring at the end of the school year as principal at King George Public School in East City. Armour Heights Public School principal Marguerite Masterson will take on responsbility for King George starting in September. The two nearby schools will be merging into one building that the board is planning to build just east of the existing King George building following an accommodation review that recommended the merger.
Susan Wilks, principal of Kirby Centennial Public School, is also retiring and as of September Rebecca Padgett-Goddard, currently principal at Orono Public School, will also assume leadership of the combined Kirby Centennial Public School and Orono Public School, south of Peterborough in Clarington, the board also decided Thursday night.
