Live music returning to Mount Pleasant

Music will be back at the Mount Pleasant W.I. Hall, 2432 Queen Mary St. (Cty. Rd. 10), April 8. Millbrook’s own Peter Graham will be the star of the night along with his band will bring some amazing melodies and harmonies. Open stage begins at 7:30 p.m. with Doug Kennedy, main show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. at the door.

There will be jam sessions at the Legion, April 1 and 15 beginning at 1 p.m. Bring your instrument and join in the fun or just sit back and enjoy the music.

Lady Eaton Elementary School will hold a Trade Show, Mar. 30, 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Admission is free; vendors, $40. Call the school at 705799-5292 for a spot. Proceeds of the event will help purchase games and activities for students.

The Happy Wanderers, a group working under the Community Volunteers Income Tax Program will be at Trinity United Church, April 11, 9 a.m. - noon, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. to complete income tax returns for low income people. Community Care offers many programs for Omemee and area residents. The monthly Diners’ Club seniors’ luncheon presented by Community Care and the Omemee and District Lioness Club will be held April 6, noon at Christ Church Anglican. Call 705324-7323 to reserve a seat.

CC offers many support groups for various needs. April 12 and 26, 10 a.m.-11;30 a.m., 2 Kent St. W., a Caregiver Support Group for those caring for someone with a terminal illness or life limiting disease. For further informatio­n or to register call ext 503.

Stroke Survivor Group for stroke survivors, family and caregivers, April 13, 1:30 p.m.- p.m., 65 Melbourne St. W., ext 111 for informatio­n and to register.

Living with Cancer Group presented by CC City of Kawartha Lakes Hospice Services, for those diagnosed with cancer or who are receiving treatment, April 10 1 p.m., 2 Kent St. W., ext 503 to register.

CC also offers an adult day program at Trinity United Church, Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.3:30 p.m. Call the office for informatio­n or to book a spot. This program allows caregivers an opportunit­y to do errands, relax and have a break while their charge is enjoying a social opportunit­y.

There will be Tea and Talks for Seniors, Mar 28 and April 25, 10:30 a.m.-noon at Adelaide Place, 84 Adelaide St. S., Lindsay. The event presented by Elder Abuse Network will focus on increasing self esteem in March and power of attorney for property in April. To register, call 705-928-4465.

A Cooking for One class for people who live alone and wish to learn more about eating well and preparing nutritious meals will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, 40 William St. N., Lindsay, March 30 and April 27, 10 a.m.-noon or 1 p.m -3 p.m. You can register for the class presented by Community Care by calling 705-879-4100.

The Beat Goes On health series for people interested in heart issues will be held April 25, 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. at 65 Melbourne St. W., Lindsay. This month’s topic is Mindfulnes­s and Meditation. Call 705-324-6111, ext 4145.

The Omemee Seniors meet at the Legion, March 28, April 4, 11, and 25 for euchre, beginning at 1 p.m., Apr 18, 12:30 p.m. for a potluck luncheon. Bring your own utensils, plate and mug along with your favourite edible dish for the meal.
