Panthers open semifinal series Wednesday

Peterborou­gh Laker Curtis Dickson scored his 300th National Lacrosse League goal over the weekend.

Dickson and Riley Loewen scored hat tricks as the Calgary Roughnecks got past the Rochester Knighthawk­s 11-9 on Saturday night.

Wesley Berg and Dane Dobbie both struck twice for Calgary (6-9). Tyler Digby added the other and Frank Scigliano made 37 saves.

Joe Resetarits led the Knighthawk­s (5-9) with two goals and three assists. Peterborou­gh’s Cory Vitarelli, Graeme Hossack, Brad Gillies, Scott Campbell, Jarrett Davis, Kyle Jackson and Dan Lomas supplied the rest of the offence.

Peterborou­gh Laker Matt Vinc turned away 31 of 2 shots.

The Roughnecks were 2 for 7 on the power play and Rochester was scoreless on two attempts.

Three-point night for Self in debut with Mammoth

DULUTH, Ga. -- Peterborou­gh’s Brad Self had a goal and two assists in his debut with the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday night in a 21-13 loss to the Georgia Swarm at the Infinite Energy Arena.

Peterborou­gh’s Robert Hope had an assist for the Mammoth while Peterborou­gh Laker Chad Tutton had an assist for the Swarm.

The 9-4 Swarm are in first in the NLL East, two games ahead of the Toronto Rock.

Four-point game for Evans

UNCASVILLE, Ct. -Peterborou­gh’s Shawn Evans had three goals and an assist to help lead the New England Black Wolves to a 15-14 win over the visiting Toronto Rock on Sunday afternoon at the Mohegan Sun.

Peterborou­gh Laker Evan Kirk had 56 saves on 70 shots for the win and also had four assists.

Small scores four goals

LANGLEY, B.C. — Corey Small scored four goals and three assists as the Vancouver Stealth beat the Toronto Rock 14-11 on Friday night in National Lacrosse League action.

Jordan Durston had a hat trick and Joel McCready added a pair for the Stealth (6-8). Matt Beers, Curtis Hodgson, Rhys Duch, Peter McFetridge and Cory Conway supplied the rest of the offence.

Tom Schreiber replied with four goals for Toronto (8-6), which also got two goals apiece from Kasey Beirnes and Reid Reinholdt. Brett Hickey, Brodie Merrill and Dan Lintner rounded out the attack.

Peterborou­gh’s Turner Evans had an assist for the Rock.

Tye Belanger made 38 saves for the win in net as Nick Rose turned away 38-of-51 shots in defeat.

Vancouver was 3 for 5 on the power play and the Rock converted on all three of their opportunit­ies.

Rush beat Bandits 17-14

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Adam Jones and Ryan Keenan both scored hat tricks to lift the Saskatchew­an Rush over the Buffalo Bandits 17-14 on Saturday night in National Lacrosse League action.

Ben McIntosh, Adrian Sorichetti, Mark Matthews and Curtis Knight all struck twice for the Rush (9-4). Mike Messenger, Robert Church and Matthew Dinsdale rounded out the attack.

Dhane Smith replied with a hat trick for Buffalo (5-8), which got two goals apiece from Craig England, Nick Weiss and Ryan Benesch. David Brock, Pat Saunders, Andrew Watt, Mitch Jones and Alex Kedoh Hill supplied the rest of the offence.

Aaron Bold made 39 saves for the win as Davide DiRuscio kicked out 39-of-51 shots in defeat.

Saskatchew­an was 2 for 5 on the power play and the Bandits converted on both their opportunit­ies.

Game 1 of the best-of-seven series is Wednesday at the Jack Burger Sports Complex in Port Hope starting at 7:30 p.m. Alliston will host Game 2 on Friday night at 8 p.m. at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre. The series returns to Port Hope for Game on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and then shifts back to Alliston on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. for Game 4. If necessary, Game 5 will be April 14 in Port Hope at 6:30 p.m; Game 6 on April 15 in Alliston at 6:30 p.m. and Game 7 in Port Hope on April 17 at 7:30 p.m.
