Music jam at the Omemee Legion

There will be a jam sessions at the Omemee Legion Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Bring your nonacousti­c instrument and join in the fun or just sit back and enjoy the music.

Tax season

The Happy Wanderers, a group working under the Community Volunteers Income Tax Program, will be at Trinity United Church, April 11, 9 a.m. - noon, 1 - 3 p.m. to complete income tax returns for low income people.

If you are a single and make less than $30,000, $40,000 for couples, you are eligible for their services. For informatio­n call Grace at 705745-4303.

Community Care

Community Care offers many support groups for various needs. April 12 and 26, 10 - 11;30 a.m., 2 Kent St. W., a Caregiver Support Group for those caring for someone with a terminal illness or life limiting disease.

Stroke Survivors

Stroke Survivor Group for stroke survivors, family and caregivers, Thursday, 1:30 - 3 p.m., 65 Melbourne St. W., ext 111 for informatio­n and to register.

Living with Cancer Group presented by CC City of Kawartha Lakes Hospice Services, for those diagnosed with cancer or who are receiving treatment, Tuesday, 1 p.m., 2 Kent St. W., ext 503 to register.

CC also offers an adult day program at Trinity United Church, Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Call the office for informatio­n or to book a spot. This program allows caregivers an opportunit­y to do errands, relax and have a break while their charge is enjoying a social opportunit­y.

Tea and Talks

There will be Tea and Talks for Seniors, April 25, 10:30 a.m. - noon at Adelaide Place, 84 Adelaide St. S., Lindsay. The event presented by Elder Abuse Network will focus on power of attorney for property. To register call 705-928-4465.

Cooking for One

A Cooking for One class for people who live alone and wish to learn more about eating well and preparing nutritious meals will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, 40 William St. N., Lindsay, April 27, 10 a.m. - noon or 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. You can register for the class presented by Community Care by calling 705-879-4100.

Health series

The Beat Goes On health series for people interested in heart issues will be held April 25, 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. at 65 Melbourne St. W., Lindsay. This month’s topic is Mindfulnes­s and Meditation. Call 705-324-6111 ext 4145 to register.

Seniors

The Omemee Seniors meet at the Legion, April 11 and 18 for euchre, beginning at 1 p.m., Apr 25, 12:30 p.m. for a potluck luncheon. Bring your own utensils, plate and mug along with your favourite edible dish for the meal. Please note the change of dates.
