Twelve area restaurants hosting Taste for Life next week
A fundraiser supporting PARN hits the dinner table Wednesday.
Taste for Life returns to the city for the 14th year.
A dozen restaurants throughout Peterborough, Lakefield, Fenelon Falls and Campbellford are participating this year.
They’ll be donating 25 per cent of their sales Wednesday to PARN – Peterborough AIDS Resource Network.
Funding will support programming for people living with HIV as well as LGBTQ youth.
The Peer Engagement Management Program helps those living with HIV stay connected to supports and resources in their communities. It launched two years ago.
PARN’s Rainbow Youth Program works to create safer spaces and promote inclusive services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit and questioning youth. It’s been running for more than a decade.
PARN relies on fundraising dollars to keep both programs running, said Dylan DeMarsh, PARN’s community resource co-ordinator.
Last year, 14 restaurants raised $18,000 during Taste for Life.
Three new eateries joined the cause this year, including Shafiq’s Taste of India, Silk Roots and Nolan’s.
DeMarsh said participating in Taste for Life is an easy way to support PARN and its programming.
“Just come out and have dinner ... it’s as simple as that,” DeMarsh said.
