Community Care says thank you to its volunteers
The Community Care organization is a mostly volunteer group of compassionate individuals who assist seniors and persons with disabilities, providing them with services such as transportation, home maintenance, personal distress alarms, meals on wheels, reassurance visits or calls and much more.
The volunteers who provide the majority of these services are a dedicated bunch with many giving freely of their time for many years. In recognition of their unfaltering commitment and simply to say thank you Community Care Norwood hosted their annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch on April 18. Themed as Sharing Stories, Bridging Generations, Celebrating 150 years of Canada and Volunteer Appreciation this year’s festivities followed a slightly different program than in the past and was hosted in the Millennium Room at the Community Centre in conjunction with their monthly Diner’s Club Dinner. Guests dined at tables covered in red and white and other Canada inspired decorations. After a tasty repast several long serving volunteers were recognized for their dedication with years of service pins. Ron Hart and Paul Omdahl each received their pin for two years. Larry Bell and Mary Hay each received their five year service pin. Pat Burnside, Colleen Terpstra and John Terpstra were each brought forward to be recognized for their fifteen years of dedication to Community Care Norwood. For information on the many services Community Care provides or if you would like to become a volunteer please call the office at 705-639-5631.
