Good work on organ donation

-

Congratulations should go to every person involved in making all potential organ donors into donors during a three-month period late last year. What a huge accomplishment for our Regional Hospital and this makes me very proud and grateful to be part of a community with a hospital like ours.

I don’t know all the ins and outs of harvesting organs but what I do know is that members of the teams that do this work jump up in the middle of the night if called to help with this procedure and they do it with joy in their heart for the recipients of this gift of life and with honour and respect for the families that have made this tough but gracious decision upon losing a loved one.

Having a record like the one PRHC recently accomplished is a tribute to the dedication of a caring and extremely skilled staff, and to families willing to champion this cause by giving the gift of life to other families in need. I think we should be so proud of all these individuals and give them many thanks for all they have done and the happiness and joy they make another family feel through their own grief. It is a special family that can decide sometimes quite quickly to help another person or persons to live and fortunately we have the people right here in Peterborough to make that happen. How lucky we are. Thank you to all of those involved and a special thank you goes to the families strong enough to make the choice. Janice McGrath Marsdale Drive
