Pedal for Hope returns Monday
The police officers riding in the Pedal for Hope event this year will roll into Peterborough May 1, arriving at Westmount Public School at 9:10 a.m. for the official launch of the annual fundraiser.
The riders, including city police officers along with officers from Durham Region, the OPP and the RCMP, are joined by former NHL player John Druce for the annual event, running since 2005.
They raise funds for pediatric cancer research by riding 1,000 km in three weeks, visiting schools in Peterborough city and county, Northumberland County and Durham Region where fundraising events are held.
The team has raised $4.8 million over the last 12 years for the cause, with riders volunteering their time.
After leaving Westmount, the team heads to Kawartha Heights Public School at 11:15 a.m., then to Monsignor O’Donahue Catholic Elementary p.m.

The tour wraps up at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club on May 13 with the1stAnnualCourtneyDruce Memorial Golf Tournament, named for Druce’s daughter, who died after a cancer battle in 2016.
