Masters synchro swimmers earn provincial bronze medals

The Kawartha Trent Synchro Club’s masters swimmers had strong results at this year’s provincial championsh­ips held over the weekend in Oshawa, with swimmers placing in medal positions in all events they entered.

In the 35-49 age category, Maria Shuwera, Karen Seymour and Jacquie Klir competed their trio in both the technical routine and free routine categories. Their technical swim earned them second place, and their performanc­e of their free routine earned them the Bronze medal.

“These women have improved a lot this season. Their hard work has really paid off and they had 2 strong performanc­es today.” says coach JuliaEnnsL­eDoare.“Iamverypro­ud of all they have accomplish­ed”.

Mattia Fonzo and Dani Smith competed in the 19-34 age category free duet competitio­n. Their performanc­e earned them the bronze medal.

“This is Mattia’s last time competing for our club, as she will be pursuing her masters out of province next year. This was a great way to end her competitiv­e career with KTSC,” says coach Holly Dyer.

All KTSC athletes will perform their routines at the club’s annual Splash Bash Swim Show fundraiser on Friday, Saturday and Sunday that the Trent University Athletics Complex.

Provincial competitiv­e athletes will then compete at the Ontario Age Group Championsh­ips from May 24 to 28.
