Explore Passion for Colour with artist Howard Berry
Howard Berry has been a wellknown name in fashion design and visual arts in the Peterborough community for almost 40 years. In addition to being an accomplished designer and painter, his award-winning costumes have been in many Peterborough Theatre Guild productions.
An exhibit of Berry’s work, titled Passion for Colour: A Design Retrospective, will be on display this weekend in the auditorium of the Mount Community Centre, 1545 Monaghan Road.
Public viewing of the exhibit takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. A donation of $5 is suggested for admission. Several viewing events with refreshments and music are also scheduled: Wine and Chocolate Friday takes place Friday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Cats Pub Tour Saturday runs Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Sweet and Savoury Sunday takes place Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for the viewings on Friday and Saturday, and $15 for Sunday. Tickets are available in the Town Ward at Brant Basic Office Supply, 296 George St.

Reproductive Rights
A presentation on global and local reproductive rights takes place Friday from 12 to 2 p.m. at Peterborough Public Health, 185 King St. Participants will have the opportunity to meet visiting members from the Likhaan Centre for Women’s Health in the Philippines, who will present a short film which follows the true stories of three women, followed by round table conversations on issues and best practices related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, for women and youth. Artspace
All are invited to join Artspace on Friday, from 7 to 10 p.m., for the opening reception of Waawaashkeshi // Aanikoobijigan, an exhibit of new work by Dylan Miner. Miner is a Wiisaakodewinini (Métis) artist, activist, and scholar and currently Director of American Indian and Indigenous Studies at Michigan State University. Nearly 100 years ago, Miner’s gichi-aanikoobijigan (grandfather’s grandfather), Narcise Miner, was arrested for poaching while hunting for deer. This exhibit explores that story and Indigenous rights to subsistence hunting and harvesting. Gilmour St. Garage Sale
The Great Gilmour St. Garage Sale takes place this Saturday. This annual Garage Sale, which always takes place the Saturday after the Victoria Day weekend, is the city’s largest St. sale and a great community event. Sales are set up on Gilmour St. as well as throughout the surrounding neighbourhood, with many supporting charitable organizations, including Parkinson’s, Girl Guides of Canada, Multiple Sclerosis and the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra.
