Laker Classic continues until Sunday

The 32nd annual StringKing Laker Classic minor lacrosse tournament opened on Friday. During the opening ceremonies at the Memorial Centre there was a moment of silence fo Jan Magee, a local lacrosse legend, who had a career in lacrosse that was highlighted by two Minto Cups for Peterborough in 1972 and 1973, a 1976 Mann Cup with New Westminster and five Ontario box lacrosse championships. A presentation was delivered by Peterborough Jr. A Lakers president Tim Barrie, who had been a past teammate of Mr. Magee. The tournament opened Friday and continues until Sunday at the Memorial Centre, Evinrude Centre, Kinsmen Civic Centre and the Robert E. Young Recreational Complex. There are 35 teams from across Ontario competing, including six from Peterborough.
