Laker Classic continues until Sunday

The 32nd annual StringKing Laker Classic minor lacrosse tournament opened on Friday. During the opening ceremonies at the Memorial Centre there was a moment of silence fo Jan Magee, a local lacrosse legend, who had a career in lacrosse that was highlighte­d by two Minto Cups for Peterborou­gh in 1972 and 1973, a 1976 Mann Cup with New Westminste­r and five Ontario box lacrosse championsh­ips. A presentati­on was delivered by Peterborou­gh Jr. A Lakers president Tim Barrie, who had been a past teammate of Mr. Magee. The tournament opened Friday and continues until Sunday at the Memorial Centre, Evinrude Centre, Kinsmen Civic Centre and the Robert E. Young Recreation­al Complex. There are 35 teams from across Ontario competing, including six from Peterborou­gh.
